If The Departed deserved the Oscar then Internal Affairs should have won best foreign language film when it came out, right?
Only caught 2 of the nominees for best picture. The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine. I think Sunshine was a better film. The Departed should have been better, somehow, given the director and the cast, but for some reason I don't think it reached its potential. I like Scorsese films but this one wasn't his best, in my opinion.

Similar as in "screenwritten with tracing paper"? The original was subtle and tense, and without the Hollywood ending.
This award and all 4 are embarrassments that will become evident as more people see the original version.
Oscar voters should have known better. I predict lawsuits from China soon. The disguised lifetime achievement award will come back to bite Marty in the a**.

But the acting was great as well, and it was a black comedy as well as an action thriller. It was definately one of the best films of the year and not many people have seen the hong kong version.

the departed was brilliant, and alot better than the other nominees in that category, so I think it deserved to win.

YES...it was a master-piece....even if it didn't deserve to win they're making up for RAGING BULL...THE AVIATOR....GANGS OF NEW YORK...and all the other masterpieces Scorcese did... i was so proud of him....Leonardo is next,,hopefully next year!!!
