You can't, because it never happened. If anything, terrorists are now inside our country because of this darn war. There has been evidence of that. The war is NOT keeping us safe!

sarge, you seem to forget that the only reason many terrorists are there is because we invaded Iraq in the first place.
Second of all, do your own research. It's not my fault you haven't been paying attention when it was reported that Hezbollah has agents within our country.

James, I said attacks on US soil!!! Not embassies or the U.S.S. Cole. How many times must I say it? We don't need to be in Iraq to defend against embassy attacks and whatnot, or US soil attacks for that matter.

Why are you people mentioning the SAUDI terrorists from Al-Qaeda that was here before 9/11? That is completely irrelevant to this war!

To the first part of your question.. I think what your asking pertains to 9/11 and no Iraqis being a part of the attack ... So why are we there...
Well, we had troops in Afghanistan. The threat of WMD's being used against them was a serious concern. The UN , the US and others around the world had placed sanctions on Iraq for using WMD against the Kurds and others who did not back Saddam. So Saddam supplying terrorist with WMD's for big $$ to use against our troops was a great probability. To say now, that there were no WMD's is really irrelevant. Of course if you believe it is relevant , then please take into consideration not only the mustard and safrin gas found in Iraq , but also the 1.77 metric tons of low-enriched uranium and about 1,000 highly radioactive sources removed from a former nuclear research facility in Iraq.
To say the war in Iraq caused terrorist cells to come to this country is saying that those behind 9/11 were not in the US taking flying lessons... They were and are already here just look at Imam Husham Al-Husainy who gave the opening prayer at the Democrat National Committee winter meeting ,he has openly voiced direct and open support of Iraq militant Moqtada al-Sadr and has had rallies( in the US) in support of Hamas. The fact that nothing else has happened either proves they are a very patient and cunning enemy or that HLS has been doing its job..

Damn hard to prove a negative, so your question is designed to not be answerable.
Most of the terrorists (as opposed to the Baathist insurgents) in Iraq may or may not have been otherwise disposed to attack the US. No terrorist in Iraq since the invasion was likely to have been part of an attack plot on the US, anyway.
But there may be many others in cells contemplating methods of attack on the US. However, since al Qaeda is very busy in Iraq, and their leaders in hiding, they may not easily be able to financially support and otherwise coordinate cells to attack the US.
As for terrorists inside our country, they were here before the war (1st WTC bombing and the 9/11 attackers), so blaming their presence on the war is dishonest.
And, yes, the war is having its effect, with the terrorists like Al Qaeda having no real safe haven from which to operate. This hampers their ability to attack the US. Add to that our increased national security initiatives, and we've much improved our capability of detecting and locating them.
You are aware that the feeling of being safe on 9/10 was proven to have been an error?

Well first off we haven't been attacked since September 2001. So to me the proof is in the pudding !!! there was the shoe bomber that was caught on a plane and we will never know how many other plots were foiled but we have found plenty of tunnels leading form Mexico which may have been used to bring terrorists to this Country. The terrorists were already here that is how we were attacked in the first place or did you forget September 11th 2001 or the attacks which happened before that.

Terrorists were in our country in 1993 (1st WTC bombing) and also in 2001. They've been here many times over the last SEVERAL years... during Reagan's time (that hijacking in which a guy was shot and his body thrown out onto the tarmac)...
Since 9/11 the activity has escalated.
Yeah, Saddam was captured, imprisoned, tried by his people, and executed. I think getting rid of him, in a visual and public manner, was important for the oppressed people of Iraq. I think the good that we are doing there (building and supplying schools, training men and women in different jobs, building and supplying hospitals) is earning the formerly oppressed peoples' trust.
So, Saddam has been dealt with, and good things are happening, so we are EARNING the trust of people who were formerly only against us because they FEARED Saddam's torturous regime.
Now, Al Quaeda (who has NEVER EVER liked us) has stepped up to take over where Saddam and his sons failed.
Meanwhile, back at the peanut farm, I've noticed that there haven't been anymore terrorist bombings here in the U.S.of A. since 9/11.
Oh planes have fallen out of the sky, and trains have derailed, and barges have crashed into bridges, but that's just our own homegrown idiocies.
**EDIT** Hezbollah, shmezbollah! How old are you? There have been Islamic terrorists in America since LONG beofre we went into Iraq. Yeah, I've been old enough to understand the news since the Vietnam war was the big item in the news. I'd say their presence was made known during the 1970's when the shah of Iran was ousted and local Iranian students started going on hunger strikes and making their demands known. The "down" side of Islam has been increasing, at least since the 1970's.
You mention ONE group: Hezbollah. Is that your beef? That Hexbollah now SAYS they're here because of the Iraq War? Wake up, man! They will say whatever will make YOU sympathize with them (regarding Iraq). They were here BEFORE the Iraq War. I see their words have had the desired effect on you.

Faulty conclusion Einstein. Because of this war, over 300 al-Qaeda operatives have been either captured or killed in Iraq. That's 300 less individuals wandering around the world and finding ways to get into the U.S. or the U.K. or any other NATO country to cause trouble. Wake up and take off the jade-colored glasses for crying out loud -- we all know that we can never be safe from terrorism after 9/11, but it's a heck of a lot better to take the fight to the terrorists than to fight it on American soil (and while we're on the subject, show me some proof that terrorists are now inside the U.S.)

They were inside this country before 9/11. If you want to know what attacks have been stopped, petition the government under the Freedom Of Information Act.

The war was never about keeping us safe-- that's a red herring. In fact, Iraq is probably made things worse as they're honing their skills in terror warfare.
Afghanistan is a different story. We needed to go in an crush al qaeda there. The taliban was clearly sponsoring terrorists. Iraq was not.

And, of course, there's a couple of other goodies--like while Bush has been wasting money and lives in Iraq, Afghanistan has become just as bad a mess--and there ARE terrorists there. Oh, and have you noticed Bush STILL has done nothing to clean up the mess on our boders--or improve port security--or. . . .

Lawrence R... you need to stop being so paranoid and xenophobic. Iraq had nothing to do with any terrorists in this country, until after we went to war over there. We're just pissing people off. How would you like it if there were a bunch of Iraqi soliders doing whatever they wanted in the US? Hmm?? Put yourself in their shoes, and stop being so callous.

Why is it that your narrow definition of safety for Americans is limited to American soil?
Any American anywhere should be entitled to the basic precept that they are allowed to live. If you do not believe this than you are wrong.
Iraqi radar stations constantly locked on to American and British planes. They were not doing it to say "hi up there." If you are asserting that Saddam was just going to leave America alone if we left him alone you are mistaken.
