Has anyone heard that repeat ultrasounds can be dangerous? I'm 25 weeks and just had my 6th. Should I be worried about them causing potential harm to my baby? I recently read an article that they can cause problems with brain and cell development. Anyone else heard about or experienced anything like that?

From personal experience, my daughter turned out just fine and I had an ultrasound every week from 6 months till the end of my pregnancy. The fluid was on the lower end and they needed to monitor it. The baby will be fine!!

particular the advantages out weight the possibility. it extremely isn't any distinctive than you getting an x-ray, low radiation. as long as you have a healthful lively toddler it extremely is starting to be effective they're going to maximum in all danger in basic terms do one or 2 ultrasounds besides. twin being pregnant it extremely is one the different month then one each and each month the final 3 months. i think of I had a entire of 8 or 9 with my females and in basic terms one with my son. you will no longer comprehend the intercourse till you have an ultrasound at 20 weeks or later. There are an entire checklist of issues that should bypass incorrect which you would be able to in basic terms tell by an ultrasound, and maximum you may comprehend ahead of transport so which you already know the type you will supply. Like no rely if it extremely is born with its bowels on the exterior of its physique you may no longer have a organic hard artwork. it ought to kill the toddler, it must be taken by c-section, and maximum in all danger bypass directly to surgical operation yet after will stay a healthful widely used existence. the place the placenta is. no rely if it extremely is fused to or close to the cervix it extremely is extremely risky. Ultrasounds have not killed any toddlers. If something it has saved quite a few lives.

There's controversey on whether or not ultrasounds are safe or not. Since you've already had six of them, I'm assuming that you are a high-risk pregnancy. Your OB/GYN will not put you or your baby in danger. If they think that you need to stop getting them, they will warn you. There are no chemicals or radiation waves put in your body when they do ultrasounds. It's more like doppler.... It's sending sound waves (sorta) and bouncing off of the fetus, fluid, uterus, etc, to make the images.

There is a such thing as too much of a good thing. If you have genuine concerns, tell your doctor about it. They are obligated to go over all of the risks involved when performing a procedure on you. And an ultrasound IS a procedure.

I really wouln't worry about it though.... unless you have a sonographer and an ultrasound machine at home at your disposal that you are accessing on more than a daily basis. But again, I'm not a professional. I would definately take your doc to task about it.

Hope this helps!

PS.... congrats on the baby!

An ultrasound is safe for everyone, even an unborn baby! Don't worry about it.

Ultrasounds use sound waves - which are not harmful to the baby at all. (Unlike x-rays)
