I thnk it is insulting and disgusting the amt we allow candidates to collect for their campaign couffers! As an American I am completely opposed to this very unrighteous and totally out of line activity. We elect our govt officials to do what is right and in the best interest of the American people. Do youo honestly think 100 million for a presidential election is appropriate?

It will never end. Sad. 100 million is 100 million too much.

Only after " we the people" stand up and demand change as a whole, will anything change. What do you think happens when a workforce goes on strike? The company has to do something different to get workers back on the job. How about if the american public went on srike and everyone stopped paying taxes all at the same time?

You bet things would change.

It's a sticky problem because you have the concept of Freedom of Speech.

If I want to put up a bill board that says, "I want you to vote for Hillary (or Condi)", I should be able to do that. It's my voice and my desire to express my opinion.

So, if you limit campaign amounts, aren't you in effect telling a lot of people they aren't allowed to speak their mind? After all, it's not a lot different for me to give Hillary or Condi a donation than it is to just put up a billboard myself. Furthermore, if you limit the amounts, but let me continue to express myself, you'll just find that the money is spent through other means.

So I think we're stuck with the current situation, because none of the solutions are better.

As long as they don't use MY money (and they don't... I don't even contribute the 1 buck solicited for on my tax form), they can spend as much as they want to try to get elected. I don't personally have a problem with them spending their money (either their own or raised funds for campaigning purposes). It's not like they use tax money.

Let's not forget that this is a free country and if a citizen wants to spend a billion dollars to get elected President it is their right to do so!

When they start enforcing the restrictions they currently have in place, and maybe add in a few more.

I agree, it is insane how much candidates from any party spend on getting into office.
