I can't tell whether is scripted or not.
At least Maui Fever is admittedly fake, I still can't tell with this crap...

I heard an interview with Kristin from Laguna and she said the story line is real and so are the events but the directors and everything will ask them to stop a conversation and start over or change it around a little to make it look or sound better.

It's sort of a reality/real mix I'd say. I've watched a few interviews from both shows. The stars say that it is not scripted but "guided". All the situations are real, but the producers have some influence on that actual conversations and such. To me the hills seems to be more real than laguna beach. Something about the filming in laguna beach just made it seem fake to me. That being said I like the hills alot more than laguna beach.

It's a reality show, and even thought some shows say they're a reality show, you can tell its scripted and fake. Laguna Beach and the hills, i think are not fake. They don't seem to be scripted but it's probably edited and such. I've heard that they just film the people non-stop and just take certain parts and put it into a show. I could be wrong though.

Both shows suck..I dont live like that so why would i want to waste my time watching 16 year olds get new bmws and apartments and $500 manicures during study hall? the show may not be fake but let me tell you i appreciate not growing up like that and earning my way.. those kids on that show really do suck at reality and have no idea about life. i hope that at least one of them is reading this.

It's supposed to be reality TV but I'm sure a lot of the stars are "acting" out their roles.

yes, who would act some of the stupid pointless conversations they have, dont get me wrong i love the shows but its real
