I was in a snowmobile accident in 2003 and am a paraplegic. My periods have been irregular since then (stopping and then bleeding on and off for the last 5 months) I have been to the doctor and had a pap test. She said everything seemed normal fertility wise and gave me provera 10mgx10 days to stop the bleeding. I finished on the 11th of february and starting bleeding on the 14th. It lasted about 5 days which is very short for me (they have not really been regular) Ever since it stopped I have felt sick and my breasts hurt like I have never experienced before. Since I am a paraplegic I do not have feeling below my ribcage it is very hard for me to feel symptoms. I have been to the drs for everything and I seem to be in good health. I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms after taking provera, like pregnancy symptoms. My husband and I do not use birth control but no regular sex because of all this. Pretty sure not pregnant. Anyone have same? Wanted womens opinion ty

I had some irregular/nonstop bleeding a couple months after I had my last child. After my 20th day of constant bleeding my doc. gave me 10 days worth of Provera also. It slowed the bleeding, but i was still irregular, so he gave me some sort of antibiotic, and it halted the bleeding. As far as pg symptoms, no, not for me. The only symptoms I noticed from the Provera were irritability, hot flashes, lots of night sweats, but no pg symptoms. My doc experimented with a couple kinds of birth control pills over the course of a few months and we finally found one (YAZ) that completely regulated me! yay... My periods come the same day each month and only last 1-2 days! And I have practically no cramping or pms symptoms at all! (i was a monster before) :)
Have you taken a pg test? You know, you don't have to have "regular" sex to get that way! One hit will do it, trust me! Give yourself some time, it does take awhile for the Provera to get out of your system. And anything to do with hormones can screw up a woman in ALL sorts of ways. Good luck, and hopefully your doc will find something to get you regulated

More common side effects may include:
Acne, anaphylaxis (life-threatening allergic reaction), blood clot in a vein, lungs, or brain, breakthrough bleeding (between menstrual periods), breast tenderness or sudden or excessive flow of milk, cervical erosion or changes in secretions, depression, excessive growth of hair, fever, fluid retention, hair loss, headache, hives, insomnia, itching, lack of menstruation, menstrual flow changes, spotting, nausea, rash, skin discoloration, sleepiness, weight gain or loss, yellowed eyes and skin.
