O not in my school. Our school doesnt even have new computers, there windows 95. Its funny because taxes are so high here and many people are rich. I dont see laptops in our future, but I sure do wish. I much rather type my school work or notes on my own computer than write. We are becoming a technoigized country, and most jobs are going be on computers, so why arent we doing anything on the computer?

A lot of the colleges around here will sell new students laptops at a very cheap price that includes all of the school software, etc. It really is a great deal. At the University I am at you can borrow laptops, but they can't leave the library and it can only be for 2 hours at a time.
I WISH I could have got a free laptop to borrow for the year....

Many schools are starting to do this where the student gets a laptop and they are expected to bring them to class, they are worked into the tuition and they have full support and IT departments and if anything breaks you get a new comp. its a good deal

Some do, the more expensive schools.
I know a lot of colleges do it, so do a lot of private schools.
