This is probably the most complex question in modern day history.

For everyone's information, even the ones that have called you ignorant and prompted you to go read history books, most people in here have the Western perspective on this conflict. A very biased and not always right perspective.

Firstly, let me start by saying, I am a western male, Caucasian if it makes a difference for any of you out there, educated in good European schools and brought up in Christian values.

Let me now briefly explain how Israel was created so that the nonsense some people are saying that Arabs attacked Israel and Palestinian wanted the land of Israel.

The Promised Land is in Israel for Zionists mainly. If you analyse the claim from Palestine and other Arab states, they are against Zionism. This is and was a political movement, just like any other political movement such as Communism or Nazism, and when it was created, not much more than 100 years ago, it claimed Israel as the homeland for Jewish people.

To simplify, because they had been promised a land a few millennia back in the "Old Testament" and they lived in modern day Israel for some time, Zionists wanted Israel as their homeland. As a political movement, this was only one option of the full range of options available.

That is right this must be a surprise to a lot of people but even tome Jewish religious scholars have stated Jewish people were not entitled to Israel as they were still waiting for their Messiah.

Other options such as Argentina, modern day Kenya and the still existing Jewish Autonomous Entity in the far east of the Russian Federation were both offered and considered by Jewish around the world and particularly considered by Zionists.

However, and even though the relationship with the Islamic people were bad at the time of choosing, this political movement chose the land of Israel to be in Palestine.

Personally, I would never build a house next my worst enemy; very simple to understand this would be taken as an act of defiance by the surrounding Arabic states, especially because the US and Great Britain forgot to tell Israel they were giving Israel to Jews but not the Whole Palestine.

Since then, the US and the western countries that helped establishing the State of Israel, have been trying to enforce a wrong decision taken 50 years ago and the source of the majority of modern day conflicts.

The US gives Israel as much money in Economic aid as the whole Egypt has as GDP, a country with 10 times more people than Israel. Most of this money is used by Israel to buy US military gear and therefore the money goes back to the US.

Israel has been condemned by the international community for excessive use of force, and other activities that are qualified as TERRORISM, mainly through the UN and which Israel chose to ignore.

Who has to stop first if both parties are engaged in terrorist acts? And don't be surprised with the acts of terrorism committed by Israel, after all their special forces were trained by the US (a country that has been convicted of supporting excessive use of force and of backing up terrorist acts such as the coup to bring down the democratically elected government in Nicaragua)

Also, terrorism is used to achieve political solutions and even though I disagree with it, it has been successful. Just take the example of the IRA in the Irish-British conflict. I also disagree with war but 'it is sometimes necessary' to quote US policy makers. When one see no solution and one feels trapped, one resorts to any means to achieve freedom.

Under the non proliferation treaty for Nuclear weapons, only the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council are allowed to have nuclear weapons (US, UK, France, Russia and China) and I very much agree with this. The UN, and mainly the US, has been threatening all nations that have nuclear weapons, such as India, Pakistan, North Korea and more recently Iran (which started its nuclear program back in the 50s by acquiring the technology from the US) to stop it otherwise face the consequences. However, the US has sold nuclear technology to Israel and this is supposed to be a secret; this is in fact qualified as the worst kept secret in the world.

Now, I defy anyone to carry on this discussion and tell me this is not a double standard?

Please note that I am in no way, shape of form an anti-American or anti-Semitic person but I am rather a person that never understood the nature of the Middle East and decided to investigate it... I am still in the process

#1 THERE IS NO PALESTINE!!!!! There never was a country named Palestine, there was never a people called Palestinians until 1948.

#2 The Palestinians have been murdering innocent people from day one but Israel only kills when they are attacked by the Palestinians.

#3 The Palestinians have NEVER renounced violence nor have the EVER reconized Israel. It's even in their charter (look it up).

#4 Israel has always given for peace but the ONLY thing the Palestinians ever gave was death and defiance and now the Palestinians are double trouble with Hamas pulling their trash!

Maybe once the Palestinians stop trying to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth, Israel will consider recognizing Palestine as a state and stop fighting back.

They may have been asked to but they haven't. israel is more civilized, most of the palestinians are barbaric. Israel doesn't have to renounce violence because israel hasn't been blowing up bus loads of people. Not saying israel is completely innocent, but even when israel does leave them alone they attack anyway, thats not much motivation to let them be. Primarily the blame is on palestine.

Well, none. When Isreal formed and was given nationhood, they promised to try to be a light of peace for the world. However, they also have a very, very precarious position in the world (anti-Semitism is VERY strong everywhere, but especially in the Middle East) and have unequivocally declared that they will defend themselves with everything they have rather than risk losing everything. So there are constant skirmishes. Do you really think that if Isreal stopped all violence people would just leave them alone? Their enemies (which are many) would seize the opportunity immediately. There are many problems between the two factions and there are no easy answers.

The Palestinians stole land from Israel to have their own "homeland". They have perpetuated violence against the legitimate government of Israel. They have never observed any "previous agreements". Israel obsevres them until attacked again by people whos' expressed aim is to wipe Israel off the map.

Israel would not continuously state on an primary foundation they plan to wipe others from the map with a nuclear weapon, as does Iran. If an adjacent state on your individual were sneaking in missiles/mortars, then replaced into consistently lobbing them into your outside, or schoolyard the position your children play, you would likely call for a blockade. there is not any double known the following. that is merely someone doing the most suitable they could to guard their way of existence. awaken, and promises up listening to the international of liberal nut-jobs! they purely search for the destruction of a democratic united states. get up if you happen to've shown themselves worth pals, and allies! somewhat, you talk if you happen to might want to easily as quickly decrease your throat, as seem at you.

Peace could come to the middle east tomorrow if that's what the Palestinians wanted.
Do a little more reading buddy when Arafat was alive President Clinton got Peres and Arafat to come to Washington to sign the Oslo peace accords which would have given the Palestinians 94% of their demands, guess what? Arafat turned it down. Wake up some people enjoy being victims

+ Israel are not suicide bombing innocent civilians.
+ Isreal did not attack the Palestinian territories the moment they were formed, unlike the Arab nations that attacked Israel on the very day that the State of Israel was proclaimed.
+ Israel's government is not a World-recognised terrorist organisation which has publicly sworn itself to the destruction of a sovereign state
+ Israel has made concession after concession for peace and been met only with suicide bombings, civil unrest, rocket attacks, terrorism and further demands

It's the Palestinians and people like you who operate double standards.

Read your history books... and the Old Testament... you'll find that the Jews were there long before anyone who could call himself Arab or Muslim ever existed.
