in uk grass grows all the time, its only the cold n frost that reduces growth in the winter months, dont apply seed till mid april when the soil will warm up and the seed will start shooting if put down now you will get damping off disease which would destroy all your hard work, damping off disease looks like grey fungi on top of grass seed if sown to early.

Yes, grass will grow indoors for you for that long, at least. It will need all the light, preferable sunlight, that you can give it. Sow it on top of moist potting soil, make sure that it's in contact with the soil, and keep it evenly moist until it sprouts. You can cover the container with plastic wrap until it does, to retain moisture. Germination should take less than a week. After it sprouts, let it dry out just a little between waterings. Tips and suggestions: Be sure to explain and document everything you do and each step you take. Photos will help. Double check your spelling and grammar. Be as neat as possible. Be thorough, show an understanding and use of scientific method, and if you'll be giving a presentation, practice it until you're comfortable with it. Good luck!

RE:
When does grass start to grow again after the winter?
Lawn is scarified, dethatched, dressed and ready to go - seems almost warm enough for grass to start growing, and it may be it is- diffciult to tell. Is it too early to apply seed?

I don't know where you are but, down here in Zone 9 my grass is still sleeping too. We go by this ... when the Mesquite Trees start budding, it is spring. Don't let any other signs fool ya.
Read the grass seed bag for when to plant. Personally, I would do it now, down here. I put Zenia seeds in recently. I'm ready, too, all my beds clean and cut back, ready to add something in the bald spots....almost too late to plant tomatoes; gotta get some Sweet 100's fast!

According to a landscape gardener, grass grows continuously at temperatures over 2 degrees centigrade.
You should apply grass seeds in september for best results as it avoids interspecific competition with weeds.

Grass will grow if temperature is above 6 Deg C. There is an old gardeners saying when putting down grass seed. "Enough for the garden, you, and the birds."

Depends on which part of the country you live in. If you're down south you could prob get away with sowing the seed now. If you're up north I should wait until the middle to end of march.
