For choosing up sides:

Baseball: bat toss and hand over hand. Whoever is at the top, gets first choice.

Football: best of 3 -- once, twice, thrice, shoot. Winner gets first choice.

Being just a wee bit narcissistic here. I was often picked 1st because I'm huge. The other team got 2 picks to compensate. I was very slow, but hard to bring now. The dolts kept jumping on my back instead of taking out my legs.
