same here, i think this disorder is similar to dyslexia somehow. english is my second language but even in my own language i have a hard time saying left or right correctly. for some people it is an instinct, for me, i have to think of it hard before i say it. or i have to feel my right hand and remember that i use it for eating, so its not automatic, i have to relate it to different things. im a nurse, i havent had any incident related to this yet(knock on wood) but like what i've said, i always have to stop and think first.

I have had problems with that as well. It may be some form of dyslexia. Once, someone told me to use my thumb and index finger. The one that makes an "L" is the left hand. Great, for a couple of months I was drawing my L's backward. I just have to think about it for a second or two and I can get it now.

99% of the time, yes. I owe it all to military service. Two months of marching in Basic Training. If you turn the wrong direction, one of two things will happen. You will either march right out of the formation and into the screaming face of a Drill Sergeant, or you will crash into the person marching next to you, causing a bit of a pile-up. I guess either way, a Drill Sergeant is going to be screaming at you.
Trust me, you learn left from right remarkably fast!

Not a chance. I always have to think about it first. The funny thing is though, I can always tell up from down instantly.
The weird thing is; in a mirror, the up and down in the reflection stay the same, but left and right are reversed.

Don't know why but i've always messed up since I was a kid. When my friends tell me to turn to my left, they always say "the other left" and the same for my right.

I cant. i have to do the thing where you raise your thumb and the finger right next to it and put down the other fingers. the left hand makes an L. the right hand makes a J. kinda. :D
