It's obvious! Greece or better Hellas because this is the original name as it means 'the stone of light'. Throught centuries they have enlightened our minds. I don't think that i need to say more about this. The Greeks offered everything they had to the world, culture, democracy, philosophy, arts, medicine, mathematics, physics, astronomy, comedy, drama etc. Check any historic or scientific book you want and their names are there. As far for their history, i only need to mention that at least 5 of the 7 wonders of the ancient world were designed and constructed by the Greeks.

I've always thought Spain had a very interesting history.
More recently though, I've come to learn more about about the history of Puerto rico. From slave trade and Spanish rule to the sterilization program for population control and their relationship with the U.S.

Germany, so much happening from Roman times until the present day. From Celtic, to Germanic tribal kingdoms rose a new culture and group of people who never formed a true nation until the 1870's. What happens in between is quite interesting. Great Britan would be a close second, because of its colonial exploits.

NIgeria has every thing. A quarter of all black people in the world. Rich surviving traditional culture, over four hundred different ethnic groups and languages; largest empire in precolonial Africa in the Sokoto Caliphate; all facets of colonialism: colony, protectorate, unconquered; various forms of transitions from past to the present: forced, self transforming, extant traditions; curious mixture of global religions: christianity in its various shades, Islam in its various shades, traditional religions surviving. A civil war, compared in devastation to the Second World War; incredible oil wealth and transfromations afterwards; All shades of people: nobel laurete, leading world statistician, internet scammers etc. Fights for peace and justice in Africa, promotes injustice at home. So rich and big the USA and other powers cant manipulate it; yet so unsure and captured that it cannot claim a place among great countries.
Tell me a better history of contrasts
