It's between the Mets, Phillies, and Braves. Forget the Marlins and Nationals. Personally, I feel the Mets had a magical run last year, but their starting pitching is very suspect this year. They do have a great bullpen. The Phillies starting pitching is a lot better than it was at this time last year, but their bullpen is shaky. Starters are harder to get than relievers are - advantage Phillies. Braves have improved but losing their pitching coach last year hurt them and I don't think that will be different this year. Phils edge the Mets.

Dont even consider the Marlins or the Nationals. The Nationals havnt had a winning season since 2003, they wont go anywhere without Soriano. The Marlins are the Marlins. They're young, they might, highly stress might, get a winning season this year. As for the 3 other teams, the Phillies are my prediction to go 3rd or maybe even second, the Braves always seem to do good in the east, so they'll get third or second. That leaves one team... the New York Mets. They'll get 1st place, but not by much because the didnt pick up any pitchers.

The Phillies have a powerful offense and decent pitching, but with the Marlins' coming-of-age, esp considering their spectacular pitching prospects who outperformed all expectations last year, I think Florida will likely capture the NL East this year.

Marlins
-because their young talent gelled a lot last season and this season they wll develop even more. Plus all the other teams in the division did nothing special to put themselves over the top.
