The troops deserve to be supported wherever they are. Most are just doing an incredible job and didn't ask to go where they are. Let me ask you a question. If the car bombs were going off here on a daily basis and YOU had a good chance of being blown up by an IED would you support them??? Would you try to have a peace rally and try understand what would cause terrorists to do such a thing??? Support the troops there or sooner or later you WILL support the troops HERE!!! And to answer your question I hate anti war anything especially Hippies. And no I don't love war. But regardless of what anyone thinks War is sometimes Necessary. Not every situation can be solved with love and a good stern talking to!!

Wouldn't "Supporting Our Troops" include outfitting them with proper gear, properly armored vehicles, and a game plan for getting in, winning, and getting out?
I think the American people all support the brave men and women who are doing their job.
I think the idiots who had no idea what they were doing when they sent them over there are the ones who need to be told to "Support Our Troops."
I think the "Anti-War Hippies" you speak of might have a better handle on exactly what our tropps are facing than you do.
As a proud veteran, I know exactly how it is to volunteer to defend the USA. I also know that our gear wasn't perfect, our equipment was old, and we made the best of it.
The leaders who chose to send ill-equipped Troops into a hostile theater without a plan (or training for that plan) are the ones who didn't "Support The Troops".
These "hippies" you speak of may be 'Anti-War' but I doubt they're "Anti-Troops". Hell - they probably have friends and family in harm's way over there.
You make it sound like these hippies want the terrorists and religious extremists to run the world. I'm betting that's not the case...

I don't think they should be supportive of our troops if that isn't what they want to be. That being said however, I do support the troops and believe there should be more positive reporting done on the work and activities they are accomplishing. Growing up in the "60s," I remember the negative reporting done on the war, and how demoralizing it was to the Armed Forces. The American military has never "lost" a war. The politicians that vote to send our military to fight and then become spineless when the results aren't immediate have lost wars. Wars are won or lost. We are at war. This is a war that must be won by the American people. Appeasement never won anything, except for the enemy. Don't believe me, look at what giving into Hitler in the 30's accomplished. Thank God, the American people didn't have Hilary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and others like them in 1942 through 1945, when battles resulted in 10s of thousands killed and wounded in a single day of battle. We would be speaking German or Japanese, if they had been.

I can tell you I am against the war, but I support the troops. I am anti-war because I believe that the American public was decieved to enter a war that had little to do with the threat of terrorism and dealt more with Bush's own personal gains/goals.
My brother is against the war and is an enlisted solider. My mother is a high ranking officer within the National Guard who served in Afghanistan and is against the war. My father served in Vietnam and is against the war. I also served my country and I too am against the war.
It is a volunteer military and I know what they go through, so I will always support them, just not support the government's reasoning behind the conflict.

While I tend to dislike hippies on principle, having watched them morph into yuppies and the like... it would depend on the 'anti-war hippies' in question. If they were the knee-jerk, dogmatic types who denounced everyone who had anything to do with the war, and resorted to the vile treatment that the veterens of Vietnam were subjected to, then yes, I would have a huge problem with them.
If they are however more reasonable, and protest the apparent fabrication of causus belli, the policies that surround the war and its conduct, and the apparent corruption and profiteering going on alongside the war, but doing so without condemning those who are duty bound to fight the war, then no, I would have no problem with them whatsoever, and in fact would largely agree with them.
Having said that, I would also very much have a problem with the knee-jerk 'love it or leave it' ultra patriots who apparentlly do not understand the Constitution of the United States of America and the liberties, rights, and protections it extends to every citizen of this great nation. To them I would say that it is they who do not understand the principles and foundations of our Nation, and that perhaps they should take time to read what is perhaps the most perfect document in history, The Constitution of the United States of America, and perhaps attempt to appreciate the sublime prescience and wisdom the framers had when they penned it.

There's a difference between supporting the troops and supporting the war. I support our troops who our overseas, but I do not support the conflict in Iraq (It is not technically a war, Congress never declared war, Bush just started shipping troops over there).

My gawd! This question is over 40 years old and you still don't get it. People who are anti-war DO support the troops, that's WHY they're anti-war! What anti-war people don't support is the arbitrary abuse of Executive power and and the deliberate killing of innocent people! Furthermore, not all antiwar people are hippies (far from it) and not all hippies are antiwar (though most are). There's a term for people like you: "narrow-minded bigot."

Man thats a really tough question for me.. for 1. I have VERY long hair and have been called a hippy before (But those people didnt really know who they were talking to) I'm anti war as a state sponsored spectator sport.. I only fight my own personal wars.. 3. I'm former USRA Milatary (In my younger stupider days in the 70's) 4. I'm retired 11 years now from DoD as a civilian. 4. I have a very good friend thats a USMC sniper going on his 3rd tour of Iraq next week.. and if he gets killed i'm next in line to marry his wife.. and no one wants that LOL
So now that i think about it.. No i dont dislike anyone thats anti-war.. war is some stupid shi*t now that i really think about it
so much as i hate to admit it.. (Hippies annoy the F*ck outta me) I guess i like hippies...

It's a misconception that "anti-war hippies" don't support the US troops. I think most of us DO support our troops and care more about them than you supportives of this war. While we dislike seeing innocent people in other countries murdered, seeing our own troops killed and sent home in body bags... you'd keep them there to keep on dying for a war no one really understands the meaning of. Fighting "terrorism"? Give it up... its propogandic, and working, obviously. It's turn us nationalistic... too much love of country and no questioning of our leaders. It's more AMERICAN to stand up for what you believe in, whether that means agreeing or disagreeing with what the businessmen (yes, businessmen) in Washington say and do.
I never understood this "liberals don't support our troops" bullshit. We don't want them to be in war. We want them home with their wives, husbands, children, friends, family... you want them alone in the desert, dying for no reason.
