algebra is the basics of maths science and in essence a building blockl of civilisation so its pretty useful now, let alone in the future where it will still be vital, unless you wish to be transformed to a world with nothing but hitting your head against a rock (which actually would have algebra involved as well)
Keep plugging at the algebra, its good, its useful and above all its essential

I am not sure what the question means. I use it daily and many of my friends do. A formula for finuring how much concrete is need is algebra, to figure how far you can go on a tank of gas is algebra. Your budget is algebra.
Can it play a major role someday? It does every day now. Why would someday make any difference? You have probably not been taught it correctly. Find someone who can explain it to you properly and you will be amazed at how easy, and useful it is.

Well unless algebra goes back to acting school, I think it is stuck in play supporting roles especially in movies until it hones it skills. Sitcom TV shows, well it might have a shot at a major role there.
On a serious note, it plays a major role in everday life if you realize it or not, pretty much anytime you need to deal with anything to do with numbers.
