I used to get panic attacks when I shopped bc I felt like nothing looked right, and that the sales people didn't think I belonged in their store. Here's how I address it:
* If a sales person greets you at the door, just say "hi" and keep walking. Look at the stuff in the back of the store first. If you stay up front, they'll want to talk to you about the sales, or the weather, or whatever...
* For every two items you pick up that you think are fabulous, pick up one item that you normally would not look at (even if you think its ugly). When you try your clothes on, you'll be breaking out of your normal style mode, and you may find that a cut or color you never thought you could wear looks fabulous on you.
*Limit your shopping time. Don't go out for the whole day...just an hour or two.
*Bring a friend. The sales people are less likely to harass you if you're not alone, and its fun to pick out clothes for each other.
*If you're not feeling good about the store, the sales people or the experience, just leave. I can only listen to so much techno in one day...I have limits. It saves you alot of aggravation, and makes you dread shopping alot less.

The best shopping for clothes is to do it when you're actually not shopping for clothes. I find great stuff for me, especially when I'm looking for gifts to give to someone else. Or when I'm walking through the clothing department and some item just stops me to take a closer look. That's when I find the greatest stuff! You'll find the best when your attitude is the most relaxed! I think that's the secret! When you're otherwise out and really looking and then you begin turning frantic, then just stop, go home and come back when your mind is clear! Don't force anything! So just notice your mood. If you're in a great state of mind, then go shopping! It works every time! Have fun!

Wow girls who hate shopping, i never in a million years would ever think id read that anywhere.
Try shopping for clothes with friends because as you try on clothes you get their opinions and at the same time you can be goofy by trying on the most off the wall items that you would never purchase, then take pics with your camera phone if you have one.
Me and my friends go crazy when we go into stores.
