I understand how to use the tilt option but I need to get an aerial image looking directly on top of my subject. (ie. not at an angle)

It's not the 'til't option I'm not understanding. I am trying to get a perfectly straight angle on my aerial view. I am trying to get an image without any shadows so I can recreate a 3d model in Google sketchup using the EXACT shape of the buildings.. Any ideas?

Then you can use your touchpad or mouse to 'scroll' the globe until it's under you, by clicking and 'flicking' to start it moving, then click again to stop it rolling. Alternatively, just click on the subject and it will roll and zoom in from dircectly overhead. Just zoom in or out then.

The indicators should be in the middle of both top and right slides to be directly overhead.

Simply put, you adjust the tilt until it's not at an angle. When you first open up Google Earth, the view should be top down unless you have chosen otherwise.
