My Father was in the Navy for 28 years, and so we moved a lot. I have lived in 20 states. I have visited another 20 in my travels.
My first answer is a qualifier, but still valid. EVERY state has many beautiful things about it, from the climate, to the sites, to the people. Additionally, each of us is different, and have different preferences. Therefore what I find most beautiful about a state may not be your ideal.
However, since I am answering, I would say, for me, Hawaii is most beautiful. The weather is awesome, the culture is exquisite, the sites breathtaking, adventures plentiful, and the people endearing.
Yes, there are downsides, but you did not ask that.
I would say a close second is Florida. There is so much beauty here. From the keys, to the east and west, and from the panhandle to the interior. The beaches, sunsets, lifestyle. Adventure abounds, and there is so much to behold.
Good luck with all!

Florida has to be the most beautiful state in the union if you emphasize the Florida Keys. Miles of beach open spaces and a multicultural feel, kinda like New York without the New Yorkers or congestion of the inner city but keeping all the benefits.
City wise Coconut Grove in southern Florida the artistic community and art walk are hands down the best in the nation.

Northern California is awesome with Yosemite valley, Arizona has the Grand Canyon, but for sheer quantity of beautiful scenery, I'd say Michigan. More coastline than any state, and if you've never been through the Upper Peninsula-brother you hav'ent lived. As for cities to live in? Chicago. Great city, great parks, Lake Michigan, great transportation.

That's a difficult question. I love California, but Maine is beautiful too. I love the coasts. Both places have mountains and varied terrain.
Atlanta is one of the nicest cities I've ever lived in, but I also like where I live now in Baltimore, MD. Boston is nice too. I like the open space, the parks, and the architecture...oh, New Haven,CT has beautiful old buildings. Annapolis, MD is nice too but it is too crowded with tourists and there is no place to park - even if you live there.

Must be Colorado or Arizona
Vegas use to be the best city before it grew so big and got so expensive.
Haven't been there in years but loved Boulder Colorado
Arizona is like 2 different worlds depending on what part of the state you are in,

Texas, Montana, Alaska, Colorado
There are so many, but I think those were my favorites, probably Alaska the most beautiful.
As far as living I would want to live in Henrietta, Texas. It was a very small country town but close to a city so there was still a place to shop. I just love it out in the country.

Utah is by far the most scenic beautiful state, but I would never live there. Northern California, Colorado, Arizona, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania are also very nice. I live in Northern California now and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Massachusetts. You can visit the very historical and pretty city of Boston and then head west toward the Berkshires where you can go skiing or snowboarding. The state has everything from city-life to quaint towns, amusement parks and more!

Hawaii. Also I love all of the New England states, especially when the leaves are changing. I'd love to own a bed and breakfast in CT or MA.
