My 10 year old daughter has said she needs to go to school dressed in African dress. Any simple ideas of what we can do?

Er, not many African shops in East Devon!
I thought we could just go for the 'essense' of African, beads & bangles etc?

And, what does 'kente' print look like?

Outside of going to a shop where you can buy one, nothing you can make simple. Try and find a hat made of kente cloth - that will be about the cheapest thing you can do.

To answer your question, I've attached a link showing several variations of kente cloth.

If you're strapped for cash and/or short on time, go to the fabric store and choose kente print. Wrap it around her waist like a skirt. Voile! African-esk.

Seen as i come from South Africa. I would take a cloth spin it around her head so it stays on, also for a dress look in a African shop for dresses or ask i Nigerian woman to help u create one. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
