I think there would be less violence, the fans would be concentrating on the cheerleaders and wouldn't have time to fight!
What do you think??

Oh god no. I truly think that would be the end of the beautiful part of our game. The beautiful part being they are missing!!

Add: In Australia we have them ( sadly ) at Rugby League Matches but I go to a lot of (soccer) Football matches and I have never seen any.

The soccer pitch is large, there will not be much to see beyond distant figures jumping in unison. The soccer half time is short. Real fans are discussing the previous moves, arguing about team and star performances and strategising for the second half. No one will pay any attention to bare assed cheerleaders anyhow

NO NO NO
FOOTBALL is about the game not the faff that happens around american "football"
Have you been to a game, half time is for the bovril, tea or coffee with a talk about how your team has let in such a soft goal and how there number 7 is quite quick, plus the meat pie. No need for cheerleaders.
anyway where would the subs practice?
Violence occurs due to rivalry, a cheerleader aint going to stop rivalry.

I don't think they should be there... it would take the fun out of the football games. The players would have less concentration to play the game if cheerleaders were there.

Hmmm... you have a good point there... it would also make guys turn away to watch the cheerleaders and give us girls an extra chance to check out them dudes out on the field--LOL!-JK!

Nah! Better off without cheerleaders... if there were cheerleaders, don't yu think that would also distract the players?

No this is a serious sport that girls play too. This isn't where cheerleaders belong if there are cheerleaders there is no reason at all to play soccer I HATE CHEERLEADING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not even a flippin sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also they shouldn't be paying attention to the cheerleaders the soccer players play so they can show people that they can do more then wave pom poms in the air and that we are better then them. We want people to notice us not to notice stupid girls in uniforms swinging pom poms in the air. Not all cheerleaders are stupid but its stupid to do something thats not even a sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheerleaders are pointless in any sport. they have nothing to do with the game, the only purpose they serve is to give additional incentive for ppl to pay and come see a game. its bad enough this sick marketing ploy is already being used in american football and basketball. you want it in soccer as well??

@Kev P: good answer :)

I would get upset, the WAGs would get upset cause I'm upset when I really shouldn't be, and then the players would get upset for upsetting not only the WAGs but me :)---hehehe

it would be another form of glorified prostitution, I object :)

I agree with everyone else on the subject.
haha, Babyboy, I think Pinky was the one who posted that Q .

but beware!, I've seen them before, the attack has already begun

well the fans tend to fight outside the stadium and away from police attention not at half time. but i wouldnt say no to a few lovely ladies at half time. but mind you that would take away things such as the crossbar challenge and make the game too american.

The teams in the Australian A-League have cheerleaders and mascots.

I don't prefer soccer teams having cheerleaders, but I don't see anything wrong with it. I think teams have enough support with the fans and chants and music, and I personally think that's enough. Nothing against cheerleaders or anything (!!), I just wouldn't prefer them at a soccer match.
