During the Great Depression the only thing that pulled us out was the massive government spending to fund world war II. currently the economy is growing due to being proped up by the current war in Iraq. (5 years 1 trillion dollars for the war) Why wont the public allow this kind of spending on education, science, NASA, Health Care, Alternative Fuels. during a time of peace? yet we so willingly use the money in a time of war

remember that countries do not default like personal finances, and yes its a debt left to pay by our grandchildren, but if our economy grows faster than the debt, which defcit spending proves to do, then its actually less by percentage. for example if you owed 30 grand today while you make 20 grand a year its bad, but if in 10 years you have deferred that payment and you make 100grand a year that 30grand debt isn't that much at all.

Have you ever tried that in your personal finances? I don't think it would be recieved quite so well.

Think of it this way: after all is said and done, who will own this country? What will we have to do to pay it off?

Deficit spending is extremely detrimental to American society as a whole. The more money we spend on waste and excess (lack of oversight of use of money in Iraq and in the US), the less money we have to spend on education, modernizing and researching cars through use of alternative fuels, border protection, toughening border patrol and stopping illegal immigration. A lot of Mexicans take advantage of our tax dollars to get free medical care. When is all of this deficit spending going to stop? Why are we still allowing illegal immigrants into the US?

it's spending money we don't have. eventually, from somewhere, the borowed money has to be repaid. like average american citizens, the us government has to budget and learn to live within the confines of the budget.

Depends on which party does it. Which means the media will tell you what it means as it fits--or not--into it's one world government agenda.

Well, if I did it, I'd have my bank account confiscated!

Besides, all its doing is asking your kids and grandkids to pay the bill.
