With the growing number of illegal immigrants in the united states, this question is becoming more and more pertinant than ever. Paying little or no taxes, sending millions back to their former country, severing themselves from american culutre and creating a sub culture, crime are major problems among illegal immigrants. Is it worth it for the hard work they provide for so little pay?

I know numerous illegal families that have numerous social security numbers and are using them to get welfare.

YES !! This action is harmful... and beneficial to them only.

Why it is not cracked down upon is beyond me.... If I did this I would be in jail, yet there they sit by there mailbox collecting more than 3 families shares. How rude !!

think of it this way.

If we somehow shut the border and sent them back who would do those jobs now? there are not 11 million americans out of work looking for jobs.

lets say we stop the flow from continouing so we dont' have that hurdle to cross. As our population ages, social secuity and medicare will require a larger amount paid since they are revolving accounts (the money taken out of your paycheck today is paid tomorrow to a retiree). So if in 20 years when all the baby boomers are fully retired we wont have enough workers to fund they huge medicare and social secuity bill and we will either have to raise taxes dramatically or we will have to cut off the old people.

illegal immigrants and their children who will be american citizens and will pay more taxes than their parents (although the parents do pay a decent share). Plus the money they send back, actually stems the tide of more people coming over. If that money was not sent back to central and south america, more people there would be in poverty and would start looking for a better life, probably by coming here....

So economically it makes sense to keep them here, people say they are destroying the economy yet if you look our economy has been as strong as ever in the last 20 years and that is when the main tide of immigrants have come.

Most of them earn so little anyways that they wouldn't be subject to paying taxes even if they were citizens or legal guest workers.

Yes we need to control the border, but not to stop the flow of immigrants, simply to control it and deny terrorists and crimnals and drug smugglers from coming, but that is it.

There are reportedly 11 million illegal immigrants in the US. If we sent them all home tomorrow, would we be better or worse off? My bet is things would be a lot worse tomorrow than they are today
