The word "politics".....

the Americans word isn't always heard by those in the Government. Only the ones that have $$$ are ever heard or have more gain and control...

It is true that you can ask that "why?" question and then come to realize also that most Americans are registered voters and usually only half or with a little luck, maybe a little more that actually take the time to vote...pretty sad indeed, most people gave up on the elections system (GOP) long long ago...

It is true that the Americans do need to put up more against the corruption, obviously the Gov't didn't listen to the people til the last election and voted out the Republicans with a landslide of voices against them. Even word from the people on the eastern parts of the world! It is this past election that should place an example of how all true Americans should take responsibility on being a part of USA, by voting, and participating with their local representatives and senators and this way they'll know who is working for them...and what they can for you and your America.
Though I hate the word, but......POLITICIANS are not needed in our Government, the country had become more diversified with many of kinds from different lifestyles/classes/cultural/religions/traditionalists that also indeed need attention and it is the Government's responsibility to meet those needs...but instead there are those that have to cheat their way into the system and then break banks, break sponsorship regulations, whatever....we end up paying taxes on their arrests/court proceedings, etc. [(example: The Ohio Federal case vs Thomas Noe (The embezzler of BIG $$$) who was a part of the corruption in Ohio's workman's comp and Republican Party Members...also someone of whom did give some money into the Bush 2004 campaign too....btw).
There is nothing but Greed & Power Tripping going on at Capitol Hill...which cause reactions and no pro-actions...this is a distraction to the people...because whenever they (Americans) are trying to express themselves...they end up getting in trouble for it one way or another.

I think the question should be able to answer itself because of the word politics...seems only politics will end politics these days...The Americans have a hard time knowing what's going on...sometimes...(example: the proven hidden information from the house/senate & Americans that Bush kept in the past...Cheney too!...they have yet to learn, the truth always comes out!). $$$ shouldn't the main game to get into the Government...There are those that have more important values than $$$ our Country needs...We need Peace.

Once again I think you're right to ask this...it is badly needed of someone to get Americans to WAKE UP! Take control by participating with your country not by your country. It is the People of America that are needed to make America stay in a prosperous path.

Limitations. We,as individuals don't believe that we can make a difference and if there are more that share our views it's not enough to make a change.Like gas prices, everybody know they are high and could go higher any day,but you see on the news how the government plays it off as preventive maintenance.Since Katrina and those that followed it's been about protecting the supply and the buyer not so much the consumer.Did you know President Bush and his father own outside of the presidency, many major oil companies and stand to profit triple then they have in over 5 years on our hard earned dime. Now what do you think would happen if 80 billion people{consumers} stood together at one time and refused to buy gas until it came down to a reasonable price? How many days do you think they could hold out?..It's not that we don't want to stop corruption it's fear, fear to be the first, fear to stand out, fear to stand together, fear of unity and the power it might hold, fear of freedom of speech. This is exactly why America and Americans{self included}are in the shape that we are in and you can go to the bank on that.

As an american who beleives most of the government is corrupt, the ability to do something to stop corruption seems non-existent.
can we stop the "sneaking in" of raises and healthcare insurance for congress and their families into other legitimate bills that are passed in congress?? can we write a referendum, get a petition signed and get this voted on in an election????????????
can we forbid bribes to be given to congress in the forms of jobs and scholarships for their families by corporations in exchange for favorable votes on laws???????????
Can we explain that one people under God means the God of the new testament. The God that says turn the other cheek, the one that says do unto others as you would HAVE them do unto you....We, the American people, feel that we have no voice, we feel we have no power, we have no candidate. If we had a candidate, he or she would be executed in the streets as so many brave men have been in the past.

The only thing Americans can do is vote, and that is a slow, slow process, especially with all the religious nuts messing with voter and campaign priorities.
