Actually you're right.. There WILL be millions.. and the superficiality of our presence there really means nothing when you consider the fact that they've been killing each other ever since the 'holy lands' garnered religious significance and the battle was on.
Nobody really cares about us being there. We've stopped, or maybe re-channeled the bloodshed for what.. a sand in the hourglass? Then they'll be back to killing each other like they've been doing for two thousand years.
That's one thing sensationalism of the press does for you.. it alters the very fabric of history and truth. All this killing went on before we got there and it'll continue after we leave.
The only difference right now is..we have american soldiers caught up on it so the media is selling it as this big push for Iraq to get rid of us.
The bottom line is.. they just have more targets with us there.

Exactly. While I agree that the current strategy probably is not the best one, we still cannot pull out for there will almost definitely be a civil war. What we ought to do is draw up three separate states under the leadership of a federal government with little more power than to run the military and take care of borders. Outside of that, the ruling should be done by the states which are one Kurd, one Shiite, and Sunni. This would almost undoubtedly calm things down, not all the way, but it would stop much of the sectarian violence if these people had their own little states to set up shop in and do business with each other. Thanks and have a nice day.

Is this a question, or are you trying to start a flamewar?
If it's a question, I answer yes, I would want to see a lot of death and bloodshed. Civil wars are great for that.

You are perfectly correct- except it would be milions not thousands.
I am afraid however that the Libs just don't care. The people out there are- to them- not real people. And in any case they don't vote in US and the CNN would not show any such massacres on prime time.
Not to mention possible campaign contributions from friendly "private individuals" in Syria or Iran...?

Sounds familiar like Vietnam, except that war should never have been escalated, thanks Johnson and McNamara!
