no. Our nails and hair are both made of keratin, but the similarities end there.
the biggest difference is that hair follicles have their own nerve endings-sensory and motor. Hairs can go erect when you are cold, for example, and you can feel when someone strokes the hair on your arm or leg (or back....) even if they don't touch the skin. Your nails rely on the nerves in the skin under them, for the most part.

Nails and Hair are made of the same substance. Neither are living.
Although your hair looks like one long strand it is actually overlapping scales.. just as your nails are overlapping scales that are far to small to see.
