I have a feeling REAL gays wouldn't be very interesting to watch (even to us). TV is an entertainment medium with the motto "Send in the clowns!" I'm hoping for a TV show that shows ANY normal people.

As society matures we should see the end of stereotypes and the advent of more realistic portrayals of everyday homosexuals. Right now, the stereotypes still fit, in so much as they provide a starting point. Already we beginning to see more positive and more accurate gay characters starting to emerge. It will take time, but consider this, less than 20 years ago, we wouldn't even be having this discussion because there were few if any gays portrayed on TV to begin with.

You should be glad that theirs gays on TV.It used to be no one would even show a gay on TV.when will Southern stereotypes end,? or Yankee stereotypes,or black stereotypes.or dumb blond stereotypes?how can someone end this?.they cant, the media producers decide what people will watch .not YOU.not me.It all has to deal with money.with what people will watch.

A little more proportional representation might help. I really don't care how people live their lives but I'm getting sick of producers trying to put the 'gay is OK' message across.
Hate to say it but the gay community has been advertising their lifestyle to the point its getting tedious. A few less 'gay parades' and a few more 'straight parades' might help as well.

this is a very tough question but one that does need addressing, nothing against gay but i just dont like stereotypes. i think we need a highprofile TV to date a girl or something like that. but how do we arrange that!!!

The same way you can end the dumb blond stereotype, or the fat person stereotype... when you figure out a way let us know!

that's a hard one because on one hand we hate the way we are portrayed, but then again if no one watched we would be ignored totally.so i guess we will have to keep writing the networks to let then know how we feel about the shows and what we would like to see changed. we have to keep reminding ourselves that TV is a business

Will and Grace was the worst show on TV to disply gay sterotypes and the gays loved that show, so it's not going to happen.

I hate to break it to you, but we can't. TV is always going to be filled to the brim with racial, religious, and sexual stereotypes. We just need to learn that it's just exaggeration for the sake of entertainment and stop complaining.

Not watch them, support shows with better depictions, explain why they're offensive to straight friends and relatives, and keep the letters coming!!! Of course, people have been working on this for ages.
