Leogirl, many of your party members have been using the word corrupt. And by reading your response, you ARE implying that Hollywood is corrupt.

Al Gore is the first President to do so, and what an honor it is too. It's funny while they were out Clinton and Gore bashing other people were being productive and producing results.

Actually most of us think Hollywood is not really corrupt per say, but not experts on national and international issues. They're just regular people who happen to have jobs where their opinions get noticed because of their visibility and popularity. That doesn't mean that they know what their talking about. Their forum leads less intelligent folks to believe that if so and so thinks this or that then it represents the sentiments of all of us and it must be right. In my opinion, that's usually not the case.

Of course there is politics in Oscar voting. Even Al Gore would admit that. He did not win just because of the filmmaking qualities of his documentary, although it was a very well-made film. He won because enough Academy members who voted wanted this documentary on the subject of global warming, taking the point of view that it did, to win. And Martin Scorsese won because people felt like it was about time that he won, not necessarily that The Departed was the best film. So what? That is not corruption, that is just the way voters are.

Hollywood has had an agenda for its whole existence. Corrupt, they have taken it to new heights. Maybe why Gore gets on with them, like calling to like.

Gore is a hypocrite. When is he going to do something rather than preaching? Or does he think everyone but him should do something?

And don't try pinning conservative labels on me, I'm an independent tired of all the corruption in political and public life, Hollywood as well as Washington. Don't try to claim Hollywood isn't corrupt just because it supports your own agenda.

Hollywood isn't corrupt. But they are indicative of people who jump on bandwagons without carefully examining things.

Could be said of both liberals and conservatives.

it was bcz he was so wooden that he lost the last prez election. he was the only prez candidate to have contracted dutch elm disease. that was sad.

The only people I hear talking about the oscars being rigged is liberals accusing conservatives of being upset by it.

Get over it! Nobody really cares; it was a documentary, not best picture.
