You sort of answered your own question there. Well, I can't say it's totally because people are bored, people watch for many different reasons. A lot of people have ordinary lives and like to add a bit of excitement into their lives. We certainly all aren't going to go out and become detectives, doctors, explorers, so we watch TV to live other lives.
Then, there are people like me, who are disabled, and can't get out a lot, and it's a way of living a life. You could say I'm bored, but I don't have a lot else to do. I read and I talk on the phone, but the TV does help pass the time and it's harmless. Truthfully I would rather be out with people doing things, but this fills a void.
