it depends if the truth was negative and also it depends in how it was told.
I'm a coach and Ive been told for every negative comment you need a positive to cancel it out because too many negative comments can eat away at a persons self confidence.
so too much hurt-full truth can do damage without finding a positive for it or finding a way to fix the problem (constructive Criticism).
but not telling the truth is can do more damage.
then a short term insulting from the truth.

No I prefer to hear the truth and try to always tell the truth. It depends how the truth is told. You can tell someone something insulting in a nice way.

No, I don't find the TRUTH insulting, but I do find that some people who presume to know the TRUTH are insulting because they don't have enough intelligence to tell the difference between 'fact' (truth) and 'their opinion' (which may be true but may not be true).

Sometimes insulting and some times it hurts but it has to be told. I would Rather to have been told the truth then to be lied to cause some times a lie could hurt even more.

It's not WHAT is said that people find insulting, it is HOW it is said. 93% of communication is NON-verbal, meaning that body language, tone of voice, etc. have a LOT more to do with communication than anything else. So, it's not the truth that is insulting, it is the person's INTENT when they tell you the truth.

I had an acquaintance who I did not like when she was around one friend who is known for lying to people to flatter them then when she got to know my boyfriend and he told her a few home truths which she asked for I might add I began to become quite fond of her. the truth was not insulting but very flattering on this acquaintance

I would rather hear the truth instead of being lied to, although the truth may hurt at times in the long run it is better.

I am insulted, not by truth, but by those who proclaim that they know what is true.
On the other hand, I am not at all insulted by belief.
