its very possible that your cat has collapsed, this will cause the exhaust to glow red hot, if you have to have the cat renewed also have a full diagnostic done as over fuelling or a miss fire can cause unburnt fuel to build up in the cat and then explode when hot, this then will destroy the new cat and you will be down a lot of money.

Engine is running rich and the extra fuel being catalyzed is heating up the catalytic convertor. How do you know it is overheating? Or are you refering to the exhaust manifolds turning red hot when the engine is running. Either way have your engine tuned up and the emissions checked to see if everything and all sensors are working properly.

Too rich or too lean, blocked cat, bad O2 sensor. Bottom line, get it to a repair shop and find out what the problem is before the thing goes up in flames.

I assume your are saying the exhaust manifold is turning red? if so your car is running way to lean or the distributor is too far advanced

How olds the RR? If its a carb: version possibly your ignition timing is out usualy retarded.
