I ask myself where the big stars of hollywood were in the oscar show?! Some attend the show regularly some don't at all! I understand that they would have a space problem if they wanted to invite them all but I mean actors like Al Pacino or Robert DeNiro are among the big ones! They should always be there! Are the guests actually invited or big hollywood people can just go without invitation?! Maybe they're invited, but just don't show up?! So why is Jack Nicholson there every year! He's on the same level with Pacino i mean! What do you think?! I mean an oscar is the biggest achievement for an actor, right?! So it must be important for the actors to attend the show. Maybe they show their higher class by don't attending & don't wanting to be flashy & cocky on the red carpet infront of all those people and cameras! Right?

If they weren't nominated, maybe they didn't feel like going. I mean those guys have been around since the 70s, they have seen and won many oscars so maybe its kind of a "Been there done that" type of thing with them. I am sure there were events that you just didn't feel like going to, or you had something else to do etc. They are humans just like us and they have the same lame excuses for not participating as we do.. LOL

Sometimes they do, they just don't show them on TV. They only show the current favs, the hot celebs, the lookers.
Many A+ list stars eschew the Oscars if they're not nominated or have another reason to be there. Is really is a lot of hoopla for some people.

celebrities get invited to the oscars. they're either nominated or they're presenting or actually doing something on stage like singing. so al pacina or robert deniro would have absolutely no reason to be there unless if a movie they played in was nominated or if they were asked to present. if any celebrity wanted to go to the oscars there would be no room. plus think of all the trashy hollywood girl like paris hilton would show up. that would be terrible. so in conclution, every celebrity has some reason to be there, not just to watch.

While it may be by "invitation", I'm sure if these "A" list Actors wanted seats they would get them...But the 2 Actors you picked are both somewhat reclusive so chances are they choose not to attend on a year when they have nothing to promote/root for/Win

are not getting me incorrect. i individually like Pacino and Deniro the two! as a count of certainty i think of they're great! they have given us many of the main memorable characters on the video show in the history of action picture. it incredibly is basically that maximum of those characters are all many times alike.

just like you, the oscars are way over-rated! why doesn't woody allen show, then? because they have grown up, and have bettere things to do than hob-knob with the current wannabees! jack nicholson isthere to get attention! that is why he shaved his head! apparently, he is till smoking cocaine! amazing for man his age! there are no set rules that say taht a man like deniro, or al pacino HAVE!! TO ATTEND THESE LAME AWARDS! i never watch them, and think people like you that go goo-goo!!!! Its all publicity and advertisement. They give the awards to new upcoming people or for movies that really brought home the money. The bigger names you mentioned have all already had their turn at awards..its a show and have to keep everything fresh. You can't keep giving awards to the same people..no one would ever watch.
