Where are nice areas to live if moving from the US?

Newcastle is fantastic...really vibrant, loads to do. It depends on your budget really for living costs. Jesmond and Gosforth are the really nice areas but are expensive. Heaton is nice but cheaper. The City centre is good as well. I would avoid places like Benwell, Scotswood, Fenham, Byker, Wallsend if I were you. You could also try South Tyneside and Gateshead as well, since there are good transport links (Bus, metro, roads) or some of the surrounding areas as well, such as Morpeth, Ashington, hexham for example.
