going to have carpel tunnel surgery. cant see surgeon for a few weeks for initial consultation. should I try to work and see what happens or will aggrivating it delay my surgery. I have been off 2 weeks symptoms are minor now I was on Prednizone for 10 days. Can I make it worse? I type and write at my job for the most part of my day. I want to try to go back but I don't want to if it will make things worse. I thought I could try and if the symptoms worsen then I will take off again. Are there any good alternatives to surgery and If I don't change my work duties, will it come back?

The surgery is minimal. It is simply sectioning a tendon in the wrist area. It might leave a mark about 1-2 cm long- thats all. Can be done under local anestesia too- provided you dont interfere with the surgeon.
I dont know how bad your symptoms are, but in advanced Carpal tunnel syndrome the hand just withers away- simply because the restricting tendon progressively cuts off blood supply and compresses the nerves and tendons. Better do the cut before it gets that bad- IMO of course.
