im looking to put some after market pipes on my 2006 road star and not sure whats the best type out there

Check out the link below for use as a springboard to seven or eight different manufacturers of pipes for Yamaha bikes.
Corba and Vance&Hines seems to be the biggest names in after-market pipes. (I went with V&H) but I also like the look of Baron... very cool, though I never heard them in person.

Go to - Street - Index - Exhaust
And look at the different manufacturers. Performance wise, with a carb jet kit, they're all about the same. I'd go for what looks best. Or go to some biker events and listen to the different models, to find the sound you like.
