how long does mail take to get from australia to the uk? i dont know if it is surface or air.?

It can take about 5 days on air mail. If you send a package on surface mail it may take up to a month.

I was in Australia in November and it took about 5 days for a postcard to reach my parents in the UK. Not too bad really.

i have sent letters Aus to UK and they have taken 10-20 days by air
i assume a bit of customs delays it a while
