It depends on the make, some can be overclocked and others can have more piplines than others, look at the clock speed, memory speed and pipelines (the more the better), and choose on this, i personally have an x1950 pro and have excellent performance on all modern games, HL:2, Quake 4 etc...

Good call on the BFG, have a 6800 myself and the support is outstanding. Been having problems since January, they have sent me 2 new cards since. I don't think my dilema is with the card either, Motherboard went bad I do believe. Will be replacing that in a few days to find out.

The 6800 ultra is better, because it has more pixel & shader pipelines, and runs on a 256bit bus.
The x1650, is not a great chip and never was.
