Depending on what time of the summer you are traveling, it can be rainy or sunny, and generally windy all the time. Again, depending on your travels, and which Alaska cruise you are doing (Inside Passage only, or, Glacier Discovery), you will be sailing in some very different areas.

How do you know which cruise you are doing? Well that's easy if you are going to either Whittier, or Seward Alaska, it is a Glacier Discovery; anything else is an Inside Passage only.

The difference between the two is the Gulf of Alaska, and Southcentral.

If you are travel ling mid-summer, just plan for early summer temps 50-60... you may be in for a surprise and find temps near 80 or even higher (in the interior of Alaska, Fairbanks can get near 100).

When at sea and you will only have two days at sea, sit back bring a book, and watch the scenery, the glaciers, the mountains, the whales, so much to see so little time.

Shore excursions are where you get a chance to experience Alaska. Make sure you include a flight seeing adventure. Juneau (our state capital), has some great flight seeing opportunities. Helicopters to the Mendenhall Glacier, and go dog mushing, or glacier tracking, are a phenomenal trip not to be missed. Fixed wing float planes are a hoot to boot. Juneau is your long stop, almost 12 hours, so take advantage of shore excursions, and still leave room for town.

If you have any other questions, just drop by for a cup of virtual coffee, and we'll discuss the days business, and what else to expect.

I went on a cruise the end of August - prepare for all types of weather - it still gets cold and rainy. The ship I was on really did not have a whole lot of activities to do - so plan on bringing a book or cards to play. Shore excursions are very pricy - food is generally good on board and plenty of it.
