Liberal means educated. Conservative means to (tend to) keep things as they are.
A liberal (well educated) mind is more likely to seek the "truth" while a conservative mind may already think it's found it - or think what it has found, is "good enough" and no need to change.
In the end, absolute truth lies at the end of a very long path. A path that certainly has a beginning, but may not have a true ending.
Conservatives prefer the status quo and don't seem to be the "truth seeking" types. Liberals, on the other hand, value knowledge and the constant improvement of what currently is.
Liberals seem to be on the path, while conservatives are content to sit down next to it and relax - taking advantage of the current system and always faulted truths of yesterday.
By this analysis, Liberals would get closer to the (absolute) truth quicker. Neither will actually find it.

No matter how much liberals,and conservatives search for the truth. They will both succeed, it will be a tie. Because the fact that they believe in either one means that they believe that their choice is the correct one to begin with.
Being a liberal or conservative is not a fact, it is a belief so there are no winners or losers.

Neither, for they are the same. Does not a Penney have two sides and just because you are looking at the head side is it not the same Penney when you view the tail side.
