I'm asking this in politics because I just finished reading Ann Coulters book Godless (very interesting reading might I ad), and in it, she generalizes most liberals as being atheists. Is this true? Please put your political affiliation and answer. Secondly why do so many liberals believe in Evolution? I know most will come back and say, why do I believe in God when there is no evidence but the same can be said for evolution. No immature answers please!

OK...here are my answers to all your questions:

1) Do you believe in God?
YES. I believe in God. He created me in His image.

2) she generalizes most liberals as being atheists. Is this true?
MOST liberals are atheists. Not all of them are but most of them are. I have met SO MANY liberals who are atheists. They vehemantly deny God and say Jesus Christ was not a virgin. It is a rather sickneing liberal trend in moral corruption.

3) My political/religious standing:
Christian Conservative Republican.

4) Why do so many liberals believe in Evolution?
Well, liberals are AGAINST God and Christianity. And Evolution offers them the strongest "counter-plan" in challenging Creationism. Even though it is dead wrong, the liberals defend it anyway.

NOTE: You know? It's useless arguing against Evolutionists. They will only LEARN the truth when it is too late...on Judgment Day when they stand face to face with GOD THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS.

They point to God's creation and say that it proves they "evolved" from animals! How insultive to God! They stand behind their blind "scientific evidence" and think that if they have a big name university degree, then they are more wiser than God!

But we Christians must bear in mind that, as said in Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

NOW that is faith. We HAVE NO NEED to show these liberals our evidence for God's existence and His great creations. Like I said before, by the time they learn, it will just be TOO LATE.

Sorry but your question belies your own immaturity. But you seem to ask in a sincere way and there are some very good answers here, so I’ll take the bait. I’m on the Left. Ann Coulter is the worst sort of hack, a purveyor of inflammatory claptrap. Evolution is just another scientific theory; one that happens to be the best scientific explanation of the observed phenomenon. It’s just like other scientific theories that explain things like why you get gangrene when surgeon doesn't sterilize his instruments – germ theory. Why a nuclear bomb explodes – particle physics. Why radiocarbon dating is valid - also particle physics. Why the earth is round and revolves around the sun – astrophysics. Why bacteria become resistant to antibiotics – natural selection. The trouble with science is that you can’t pick and choose which parts to believe. So I guess the real question is “Do you believe in science”? If you try to reconcile religious fundamentalism and science it forces you to become intellectually dishonest. This split-mind mentality and dishonesty is at the root of hypocrisy. Once you are intellectually dishonest about science then it is quite easy to be dishonest and therefore hypocritical about money, politics, sex and any number of other things. I would not trust anyone with this sort of problem. Therefore I am agnostic. I was once an atheist (perhaps a fundamentalist anti-theist) but something occurred to me one day. How arrogant of me to think there is no God. What a conceit to think that I could know unequivocally what God is or is not. The significance of this will be lost on fundamentalists everywhere.

Good for you for asking this question. If you are sincere to know the answer, you've taken the first step towards progressive and critical thinking.

You say no immature answers, but your source (Ann Coulter) is the most immature pundit I've ever heard. Be that as it may.....(sorry, couldn't resist).

I believe in God and I am a liberal. I do not believe in Religion.

I think that facts make liberals. This is one reason conservatives are so afraid of facts. This is one reason the media is perceived to be liberal. This is one reason why conservatives hate academia. These all deal with FACTs; things that can be proven. The more facts you learn, the more progressive you become (IMHO).

Do I think God created human life? It's possible. There are so many concepts that are brilliant engineering. But the evidence of evolution is pretty strong. Dismissing it because I don't agree is close minded, right wing thinking.

So...open your mind, have free will, live and let live, lean left and be liberal. Close your mind, conform to somebody's concept of free will, live and judge others who do not conform, lean right and be conservative.

I'm a liberal and no I don't believe in God. I also don't believe in the tooth fairy, easter bunny or Santa Claus. Sorrry if any of these burst your bubble.

Why do I believe in evolution? It explains the vast variety of complexity of life seen on our planet. If you believe there's no evidence for evolution you should probably get your information about evolution from a source other than Ann Coulter. I read the part of her book dealing with evolution and she didn't even have a grasp of the basic ideas of evolution. For example, she didn't understand what biological fitness means as applies in the evolutionary sense.

Try taking a university course on evolution if you REALLY want to learn what it's about.

Good luck.

Bush supporter/ Republican - agnostic, I very much doubt that God exists. Evolution is something that can be observed in the lab as we speak, biologists can see the DNA changes in viruses and other creatures. Humans also have DNA which is composed of the same molecules as the viruses (A, C, G, T) and it works the same way.
I think that Ann Coulter is wrong and generalizes, I know plenty of liberals that are way more religious than I am. I also know Republicans/Conservatives who are agnostic or Atheists.
To really understand Evolution, you either have to study Biology and/or read extensively about it.

Hi there!

First let me offer you my condolences on having to read one of Coulter's "books". lol

In answer to your question:

I am liberal and I am agnostic. I'm not atheist, I dont reject that there may or may not be a god, I just don't know either way.

As far as your question about evolution, I believe it is currently the most plausible theory about how we got to where we are today. (I graduated with a degree in microbiology, so we got to see it first hand.) Evolution, natural selection, can be witnessed in the lab in the space of hours (think bacterial resistance to antibiotics). Evolution indicates that all life on earth was derived from a common ancestor. Its a fascinating subject, scientists can determine how closely one organism is related to another by comparing rRNA sequences. Like any scientific principal, evidence is accrued and a theory is made based on that evidence. Science is ALWAYS trying to disprove itself because it seeks the truth, so when new evidence surfaces, scientists are the first one to criticize their own theories in pursuit of the truth. So I would have to disagree with your statement that there is no evidence for evolution.

Here's a good site to navigate if you are a layman:
http://www.gate.net/~rwms/EvoEvidence.html

Furthermore, I would never say that there is no evidence for God, since that is a matter of faith and as such, requires no evidence, it only requires that you believe.

1)Do I believe in God? I believe I'll find out when I get there.

2)I'm an agnostic Libertarian trapped in a Bible-belt, Republican State.

3)Most liberals tend to be non-Christian, whether they're atheist, agnostic, or practictioners of eastern philosophies. A LOT of the people registered as Republicans are, too.

4)Many people on both sides of the aisle believe in Evolution because there is a LOT of physical, scientific evidence to support it. Open any book OTHER than THE book and see for yourself. Go on a dig. Visit a museum. It's all hidden right there in open view.

You ask for no immature answers...but in reality, you already have your viewpoint, so why solicit the viewpoints of others?

All this question is doing is baiting people into the same old tired dogfight.

If you believe in creation, and enjoy Coulter, fine.

I trust in the theory of evolution, and read math and science books.

If you want my answer as to why so many liberals believe in evolution, here is my opinion:

Liberals may or may not be religious folk. However, liberals do have more of an open mind, and won't swallow "theories" hook, line, and sinker. They prefer to critically analyze issues before coming to a logical conclusion. I guess the opposite could be said of their counterparts. Of course, this is a generalization, and there are exceptions on both sides, but I think that it is a fairly accurate generalization.

First of all if your have to get your information from a troll such as Ann Coulter to validate Christianity there is no hope discussing any view points over spirituality. You see Spirituality is God given, and Religion is man made. Only the Lord can define whether or not I've been a good Christian or not come judgment day.

Sorry but I believe Ann Coulter has her own agenda and cares less what others think that disagree with her.

As far as God. OK, a straight forward question.

My answer is: God's existence does not matter.

If there is no God, then he does not exist.
If there is a God but he does not ever get involved in earth affairs, then it is like he does not exist.
If there is a God but he only rarely gets involved and you can never know if or when or why, then its like he does not exist.
If there is a God that is fully involved in all parts of our lives and controls everything but we cannot ever know it, then free choice is not real and we are only playing out a role in life. But since we cannot every know our role, it is just like there is no fate or God so it is the same as if he did not exist.

Therefore, since we cannot know which religion is right, or if any of them are right, the chances of any one being right is the same as for it being wrong. God does not directly tell us what to do or even if he exists, there all choices are the same as if God did not exist.

there fore, God doe not effectively exist.

While I am not a strong liberal, centerist leaning liberal, I can say I do believe in God. I also believe we shouln't try and second guess Him. He may have used evolution as a tool in His creation.

We know dinosaurs existed and we have scientific evidence of evolution. Belief in any diety is purly by faith. A modern scientific person can believe in both evolution for the scientific proof and by faith in their diety.

An Coulter is part of the Bush propaganda machine. She spews hate with Limbaugh and the rest. I suppose she cites resources or is it simply her opinion?
