It is an internal view with many different points of view. It shows the different feelings and emotions Paris and Helen go through with their affair, and with Achilles and his battle with this King and fighting Hector and then falling in love with that girl, Paris's cousin? Then it also showed the anger from the King of Troy when he showed up disguised in Achilles tent asking for the body of his son Hector back. And the pain Hector's wife went through having to watch him fight with Achilles and lose and die and be dragged through the sand.
An external view would have shown us the characters actions and what occurs, but not their feelings and emotions.
It was a great movie, and the director tied all the characters feelings and internal worlds together seamlessly. Good question!

I think internal because it shows both sides of the people in the war. but the movie Troy is very inaccurate. the themes are so retarded, they make it some love story and it is a war.. duh. There was love,yes, but it was not the point of the story. also they showed both of the heros and there sides of the war.

I think it romanticizes what really happened like in all movies about battle zones.
