it depends on you and your opinion, most breeders and herpers feed frozen thawed for a couple reasons, the first is that yes the prey item does not bite or gnaw on your loved pet (this does scar a reptile) the second is that the freezing process kills most of the parasites that mice and rats etc can carry. the third is that frozen rodents are cheaper than live.yes snakes are predatory animals and have the instinct to hunt kill and eat their prey but the animals in captivity live longer ...much longer. thats because they are eating rodents that have less of a chance to carry parasites and feeding frozen increases those chances more. i own a couple pretty expensive snakes that are beautiful and i only feed those two frozen thawed because i dont want scarring or parasites. then i own a couple columbian boas that i breed rats to feed to them.

The best thing to do is grab the mouse by the tail and swing it over the end of a counter so that the head hits the end not the body.( I know it sounds cruel) but this breaks the neck of the mice and numbs their body but their body will shake. Make sure you put it in the snakes tank right away. Only feed when your snake is very hungry this prevents the mice from biting the snakes eyes.

Some people prefer to do it that way, to protect the snake. I'm not sure how necessary it is, but bites from the mice can injure the snake. Some snakes won't eat a mouse that isn't moving around a bit, though. I think it depends on owner and snake preference.

If your snake is big enough to take on the mice it is not neccessary to throw them against the wall, snakes have been killing wild animals for ages without the assistance of a human. If your snake is not big enough go get some pinkies, they are perfect for baby snakes.

You can if you want. It's a good idea for preventing injury to the snake from its prey. Mice usually aren't a problem, but rats can cause serious injury. If you want you can also feed frozen/thawed rodents, which you can buy in bulk for a fraction of the cost of feeding live.

Yeah, right! Snakes like live mice, it's instinct for them to kill and eat it. Stop smashing the mice against the wall, that's just plain cruel.

You really should never leave multiple live mice unsupervised with your snake. They will gnaw on your snake, which may lead to nasty infections.
