Like, the cure for like, Valley Girl Syndrome is simple. Just like, Gag the valley girl person like with a spoon. It'll totally like go away.

Actually, it's driven by the insecurity of speech that causes people to subcousciously overuse certain filler words, such as "like." It's just an insecurity thing, and there really isn't a way to correct the issue without formal speech training in many instances.

Girls, guys, and people of all races are starting to say "like" more often. It annoys the HELL out of me.

"Then, like, I don't think they like, know, like..." - this is from a college English course!

What causes it? It's the new filler word! Instead of "y'know" or "uhm..." people have switched to "like" which makes them sound like someone ripped them straight out the Valley.

Death to the filler! I actually preferred "um".
