On my daughters new Packard Bell Comp, she was invited to make a back up disc which she made successfuly. A DVD disc was used. At start up of the operation a small screen was displayed asking what she wanted to open it with she chose the option to take NO ACTION. I think as a result, when she tried the disc nothing was displayed on her monitor. Could anybody please tell me how to get the small screen back. If this is not the answer why wont anything appear on the screen when she puts the disc in the Comp. I hope I`ve made this clear. Thanx to you all

You need to give more details on what program you were using and what you "backed up"

From the looks of things, you could probably get the screen back when you remove the DVD and put it back in again. I know this is stupid, but that screen shows up whenever a new disk is inserted in the drive. So that should work.

Reply back if it doesnt.

Hope this helps

you could always:

1. eject the disc and reinsert

2. access the disc manually. go to my computer then double click on the dvd drive

the small screen usually pops everytime you insert a disc to save you the hassle of accessing the disc manually (it is configured in autorun). you don't have to worry about the disc cannot be accessed. if the disc is ok and not corrupted or damaged, you can still read it without any problem without the help of the small screen.

same thing if you accidentally left a cd/dvd (non-bootable) in the drive before shutting down the computer. the computer will still recognize the cd on the next startup but it will not activate the small screen.

try right clicking on the drive with the disc in and select Open With and the program you want to use
