I have been a guitarist for 40+ years. I have filled in on bass here and there throughout the years. Recently I decided to make the switch from rhythm/lead to bass. I don't need a beginners video because I already know all the basic stuff. I'm looking for a good video on techniques and styles of playing.
I also play with a pick because I am a lot faster with a pick than my fingers, so I'm real interested in styles that involve playing with a pick. I know most bassists play finger style, but no one has been able to explain any advantages to me. So I have no desire to take the time to learn finger style if I can do the same things with a pick.

I'm not sure about any intermediate DVD's for bass, but if you've been playing that long you must have met some bass players you admire. Ask them. There's a lot of older musicians jumping on the myspace bandwagon too, so if you don't know where they are you might be able to find them there.

Musician forums are a good source of information too, and they will direct you to more worthwhile videos than a general search. As far as I know the only problem with using a pick is the clicking sound if it comes through the pickups. Some bass players claim that they just get a richer tone with finger picking also.

Try one of these, from SmartFlix. Kind of like NetFlix, but with practical instructional and technical DVDs.

If you don't know his work, you will be completely amazed.
