I think that the actors in Hollywood are a bad influence, regardless of which side they advocate.

I usually only give well thought out answers on here, but in this case all I can say is a big: Hell Yes!

Read the Yahoo actors page on each actor & look at their educational background & work background. Then tell me why they have any more clout politically than what the average person should have. Their opinions only make such a wave because we, as a people, are stupid enough to take them as fact rather than just an opinion. When celebrities are involved, people become cattle & just follow their lead. I, for one, have no intentions of following anyone that is always to the left regardless of the issue, and is, for the most part, anti-religious.

I judge actors and actresses on their abilities. I do not always agree with their political stands, but I'm not influenced by anything other than what they do with their professional skills.

The same holds true for singers, comedians, etc.

However, they have the same rights that we do. They certainly are free to voice their opinons and share their political views with others.

The problem is that many people are influenced by them because of popularity. The same is true of athletes. If a famous athlete supports a political candidate... it sometimes means a lot!

When you get right down to it, most of us are influenced much to much by others instead of making up our own minds.

I don't support many of the views of Tom Cruise and Jane Fonda. But they are two of my favorites when it comes to their movie roles.

We all need to make our own decisions.

Your question is a very good one.

Hollywood has been in politics just from making movies that comment on society.

However, if Hollywood should stick to its business and not be involved with politics, so should EVERY OTHER BUSINESS. No more special interest groups and lobbying from oil companies, pharma companies, etc.

Get business out of politics.

Now when you look at it that way, we all know that isn't about to happen - the politicians depend on all that money. Didn't you watch Eddie Murphy in "The Distinguished Gentleman"?

If you notice none of these Hollywood types will run for office except Ronald Reagan and Arnold who were both republicans if these left wing democrats think they are so smart why not offer their ideas and services to us poor dolts out here.

Personally I think they need to stay out of politics and stop pretending they know more more than the average person just because they play a role.

It's a little too late for that as the government has been telling Hollywood what to feed the public for many years.

I understand that you meant individual actors and their views, but I thought you might find this interesting.

Do you also want the oil industry to saty out of politics?

How about the war contractors? Or the private prison industry. Or any other industry you can name? They're all involved in the govt.

The difference is that Hollywood doesn't RUN the govt the way the others do.

No, i do no longer. they have a maximum appropriate to their opinion comparable to you and me. the only difference is they're in demand so we pay attention approximately it. i think of a great variety of them rather do take a little time to apply their acceptance to make the worldwide a greater physically powerful place and that i've got have been given no project with that from everybody. i've got by no skill watched a action picture the place the actor broke in to tell me his/her political opinion, you have?

ABSOLUTELY! I think they are entitled to their opinions and views just like anyone else - BUT - I think they should keep them to themselves, and not use their status as a "celebrity" to get on a soap box and "preach" to the rest of us! Who do they think they are? Just because you act in a movie does not give you the credentials of being "an expert!" "Joe" down on the corner probably has better credentials! The behavior exhibited by a lot of people in "Hollywood" does not speak very well anyway! I don't know why anyone should be listening to and hanging on every word these people say! Stop letting other people do your thinking for you!

Hollywood is comprised of people, people that have freedom of speech and mind when it comes to politics. You can't enforce a ban on hollywood's perception of politics, it's unconstitutional. People in hollywood that are interested in politics often reflect the populous of the US, so why ban them from participating?
