What I mean it this...I am sure the older folks said the same about us but who else agrees with me that the children that are being raised now & those that are just coming into the work world are way to spoiled, have no respect for others, no manners & are plain LAZY.

I ask because of the kids I see in the stores, public in general, once I was in a store & this child was screaming & crying at the top of his lungs; older lady next to me said " wish they would give the child what he wants so he'll be quiet" My reply "that is what is wrong with kids now days, they are spoiled" she just looked at me and didn't say a word....

As for the young ones coming in the work force, they feel like they deserve a paycheck but not have to do a darn thing for it. Think they can back talk & do whatever they want. (I am in the armed forces so just firing them isn't an option) mind you they have been given paperwork & they STILL refuse to correct themselves.

Do you think parents and society

I ran out of "space" what I was trying to ask is do you feel as though society and parents are to blame for this?

Society because it seems you can't disipline (spank, smack) your kids with out worrying that CPA will be called (we all know children are taught by schools and Dr's that if mom and dad hit to tell us and we will call CPA for you.

Parents because they are part of society and caused this to happen. They are trying to be their child's friend and not their parent. To many kids get paid to do chores. WHAT?? Get paid to do things that are part of household duites?? Sad thing is they won't do the chores any other way.

I was spanked as a child and I am fine. I am a firm believer of "SPARE THE ROD-SPOIL THE CHILD"

I by no means agree with beating. Just a smack or spanking on the bottom.
I am curious to hear from various people and there viewpoints and why....

I agree not ALL kids/young adults are as I stated. There are MANY parents out there that have done/are doing a fantastic job of raising decent repectful kids.

Yes I am a mother of 1 and one on the way.

I have also seen many "types" of young adults come into the work force and I am sorry to say it saddens me to see how they are. They come in with NO clue how to manage finances or life skills in general. Sad, truly is.

I just retired from the military so I know what your talking about with paper work. A lot of the young people have the diluted idea that the world owes them something, well it doesn't. Why should they have to work for it when it will be given to them. Parents want to be the kids friends, they don't want to be the meanie or hurt there feelings. It doesn't work that way and thay are just hurting them by doing it. They need to suck it up and get down to doing the job of raising children. My parents were there for me but when I screwed up I had to face the consequences and thats what kids don't have consequences. They are spoiled little punks. They believe that respect is automatic and deserve it without giving it, Prove to me you deserve that respect other than that they need to shut up and do there jobs to the best of thier ability. Another thing they don't understand quality and taking pride in what they do. Children aren't taught to have respect in thier parents, the elderly, themselve, personal property, or our country. If you can't get your kid to stand still during the National Anthem your a discrace. A lack of morals, religion, and the basic's. There is a differance between abuse and dicipline, I was disiplined growing up, my butt was whooped or there were other consequences. CPA and people need to do something about abusers but a swat on the butt is something different. I think more parents need to start with stricter disiplene than taking away X-Box for an hour.

So in answer to your questions. Yes parents are week , society is week. The gov't needs to let parents disipline there kids and disipline the abusers. I was in Food Lion (food store) and a young boy pushed between a woman and the shelf the mother swated his butt then made him go back and appoligize to the woman, the woman said "oh thats alright" but the mother said "no it's not" and made him appoligize upon witch she got a round of applause.

You have it pretty much nailed. However, I do blame the parents for letting the CPA and the children manipulate a parents rights to discipline a child. I was spanked when I was a child and I am glad my parents did. My sisters son now, all he does is throw things at her, talks back at her and me and there is nothing she or I can do because he threatens to call the police on her. And, she does not want to lose her son. My nephew loves the TV more then he does his family. He has even stated this too me. I hope he is just being a jerk and just lying to me. But, he is spoiled and making excuses for him is not doing him any good at all. He wants to become a DR. How in the hell is he going to become a DR if all he does is talk ugly to his patients? His mother is there but, she is also not there because she more fearful of her son then she is of anyone. The schools teach the children "call the law if they hurt you" this is ingrained in our society so what is a parent to do? Ignore them? And, then when they stay bratty and grow up bratty guess who reaps the wind? It is horrible that a 5 year old runs the house.

I know what you mean, and I think it might be a bit of both society and the parenting. My father in law is always telling my what a good job we are doing with our boys. that make me happy to know we are going in the right dircetion with our parenting. He also tells me that his daughter is raising juvenile delinquents. I do daycare so I see a lot of kids some good most bad. And with the bad ones I can tell you most of the time it's bad parenting. I mean kids need rules and some parents just don't have rules. Also I think the most import thing you can teach you child is manners. We grew up poor and my mum always told us to never forget our manners, I and so glad she did this because being polite and having manner really got me a long way. I thanked her for this a while back and she said " We may not have had money back then, but i could teach you kids manners for free. "
I hate to think what it will be like in 20 to 30 years if thing keep going the same way

u need to stand back and strating seeing the good things about kids today and stop focussing on isolated individual incidents. r u a parent? do u understand the demands of parenting in our modern society? my kids (and there friends) are not as you describe, sure my daughter was prone to tantrums (BIG ones) when she was little, but that is a developmental process that parents generally have no control over (trust me i tried), all i could do was maintain a sense of humour and ignore the dissaprroving looks of people like you! my son has completed an apprenticeship and works hard every day, yes he can be lazy at times, but dont we all behave like that from time to time? maybe if you showed the younger generation some respect and understanding they would return that respect and not appear as spolied and bad mannered as you believe

Lack of God, lack of Papa, lack of the woodshed, lack of a good diet and too much TV and video games. Plus don't forget it is a sign of the times where it says "men shall wax worse and worse" in the last days. Lack of discipline pure and simple. Mmm

yes but also its because of the environment they grew up in. if they come from a poor family they probably will work hard and not talk back but if they come from a wealthy family then they've been spoiled their whole lives and are not professional at work
