I had a baby born at 26 weeks last year. You are amazing - they didn't have as much technology 15 years ago and 24 weeks is very early - as a parent of a prem it always gives me so much encouragment to hear that a prem has done well x

I was born at 32 weeks - 8 weeks early. I was 3.5 pounds and left the hospital 5 days later. I have also had a daughter and she decided to come 6 weeks early she was born at 34 weeks at 5ponds 12ounces and dropped down to 4pounds and 10 ounces she got to come home after two weeks in the hospital. She was healthy when she was born just like me the only problem was that she had jondes really bad (cant spell my bad)

My doctors told me that they didn't think having premature babies is hereditary however they really don't have any clue as to why babies are born premature

I was only born two weeks early so not premature but I do have twins who are 10 and where born two months premature, they were not as tiny as you but did have some problems at birth but are now doing great and are very healthy, have you found your prematurity has had any effects on you growing up?

Recently a baby was born at 22 weeks, weighed TEN OUNCES. This made the national news.

It'll be interesting to monitor this case over the years, because of it being "a record birth".

Wow! Exactly like my cousin..she was born at 24 weeks (her mom had toxemia) and is 15 now! I believe about the same weight, too!
She is fine now..no long term problems..
You're a fighter!

My son was born at 34 weeks, tried to come at 31 but we stopped it..he is 5 months old now and you would never guess he was born early..for one thing he's 19 pounds, 26.5 inches and he's completely on track with his mental and physical peers..even ahead in some things! Maybe he was just meant to come early anyway..

My mum and her twin brother were born in 1950 at home and they weighed 1 1/2 pounds each at birth and they survived back then when there was no incubators and my nan had to spend 5 months in bed with them to keep them alive and they are both perfectly healthy 56 years old mother and nan, Father and grandfather.

I definitely wasn't (I was 3 weeks overdue!)...but *I* had a preemie. My daughter was born at 27 weeks and weighed 1 lb. 14 oz. at birth. She's now 13 months old and doing amazing. =)

I just want to say that it's very encouraging to know that there are people who were preemies, but who are now thriving and doing well! You were a miracle baby. =)
