Funny thing, The USPS built new post offices all over the USA. Majority of them that were replaced were in perfect condition. Who's palm got greased on that brilliant move??

It seems like it never stops. I have felt that with the advent of email, the volume of traditional mail would lessen, and therefore that bulk of traditional mail would go down and so would costs. Apparently that is not the case.

Look, I have lived in other places around the world and for what we get for under 50 cents it is well worth it. The majority of the time your letter/package arrives within a few days and no one has tampered with it.

Almost 7 months ago paid several hundred dollars to mail two boxes to another continent - I won't say which; the boxes have yet to arrive. The U.S. Postal Service shipped the darn things back in September but no one here can tell me what has happened to my packages! The other boxes arrived three months after shipment and then I had to pay hundreds more dollars to get them.

For what we get in the U.S. the ease, convenience and relative security I am not going to complain about a two cent hike.

They are doing it because people like me are using the internet to pay their bills. Funny thing is, it is because the postal service keeps raising postage, it made me switch to paying everything on-line. Since the postal service's revenue is decreasing and yet they still have a high cost structure (mainly fixed costs such as the buildings and postal trucks), the only thing they can do is to increase the price of postage.

As fair as gas prices and home prices going up. I think their idea about the "forever stamp" is great. It'll stop us from having to buy one and two cent stamps everytime theres an increase.
