weird question, i know. my son thought it would make a cool design in the silly puddy if he put it on the remote. well oops, it didnt all come off. he tried using a wet cloth to wipe it off before i found out but that just made it worse. its stuck all over most of the buttons. i tried picking it off but it was no use, i finally gave up. i was able to scratch some of it off now that its dry but most of it still wont come off. we are going to be switching cable companies soon, so when we turn the remote back in im afraid they'll charge us to replace it. any ideas?

Well, I almost thought you stumped me. I checked all of my reference books and couldn't find any entries for silly puddy. But, then I found an entry in my data bank that I think will work for you. Although it is for removing silly puddy from furniture, I think the technique and procedure will apply to your situation. First, you will short out your remote control or cause internal corrosion if you get any liquid inside the unit, so be very careful.

Wet (as in dampen) a terry towel with either GoofOff (the new one for plastics) or my choice, WD-40. Use the terry loops to agitate the silly puddy and work it into the silly puddy to re-activate it. There is a petroleum component to silly puddy and grease/oil removes grease/oil. You may need to use a toothpick to get it out of tight areas, like around the buttons, but this should help get the rest of it out. Once you've removed all of the silly puddy, there may be a little bit of an oily residue left on the remote. Let as much evaporate as possible and then use rubbing alcohol dampened on another terry towel to remove it. The alcohol will evaporate off the rest of the residue.

BTW, try to do this when your son is not around, the fumes from both WD-40 and Goof-Off can be powerful on little noses.

remove the batteries, then scrub it with hot soapy water and a tooth brush. Shake it off and leave it in the sun for two or three days. then replace the batteries and go use it.
