No game bought in the USA will play on a Japanese system if the format is DVD-like. It has to do with the totally stupid region system. US is region 1 and Japan is region 2. Both are NTSB, but since the regions are different, it won't work. I have a Japanese Playstation (1) and games I bought in the US didn't even work for that.

There is a site in the UK that sells multi-region upgrades, but I have not seen one for any playstations. But they might in the future. Here is the URL:

Another option would be to try a software called BLEEM. I have heard that it allows PS games to be played on a PC.

Good luck!

A bit tedious.

I think USA use PAL for the video output and Japan use NTSC, so most likely your game disc contains PAL video, which may not play properly with some of Japanese TV. (But many recent TV support PAL and NTSC both)

Even if the TV supports PAL, genuine PS2 can't play different region disk, like DVD. And modifying your PS2 may be illegal in Japan, unlike Australia.

Yes but I don't know if you can connect the Japanese PS2 to you house (by that I mean electrical outlet)
